All Hail King Nelson! What a fabulous afternoon year 2 have had! We had a super coronation celebration as a reflection of our Learning Challenge topic ‘Who is the queen?’ We think the queen would have had donuts and danced to the Macarena and the Conga... don’t you think so too!? We also had a special visitor, Miss Mavis who was 14 in 1953 when Queen Elizabeth was coronated. The children really enjoyed asking her questions all about the day, 65 years ago!
As a wonderful end to our Dinosaurs Learning Challenge topic, we visited the Manchester Museum to take part in a 'dinosaur dig.' We found lots of amazing fossils and had a fantastic day!
We have the using the story ‘Princess Smartypants’ to learn about Traditional Tales with a twist. In the story the princess does not want to get married, so she challenges lots of different princes. We created our own Prince characters before writing our own versions of the story.
In science we have been learning all about animals and their habitats. So far we have learnt about local habitats and world habitats.
We have had a great afternoon using the instruments to recreate the sounds and movements of dinosaurs. Each group used their teamwork skills to create a ‘story’ which they told through their music. I really like how they used the tempo and pitch to tell different parts of their stories!
WOW! Look at our dinosaur models that we created on our D&T day. We had a great day, designing, planning, making and evaluating our models.
