Tesco Healthy Eating
On 8th March we were invited over to Tesco at Salford Precinct. We went to learn all about healthy eating. As part of the afternoon we were allowed to explore the Fruit and vegetable section looking for examples of different fruit and vegetables that were green, yellow/orange, red, and purple. We had a lot of fun and found out that a lot of what we thought were vegetables, are actually fruit.
World Book Day 2017
On Thursday 2nd March we had a great time dressing up as our favourite characters as we celebrated reading and joined in World Book Day. The theme was traditional tales and we had lots of princesses and a variety of other characters. Mr Walsh and Miss Monkman even dressed up as Hansel and Gretel.
Science Open Morning
On 15th February we had a science open morning. We invited our parents into school to learn all about healthy eating. in Year 2 we concentrated on how we should eat a balanced diet. We explored how much of each food type we should eat and discovered that lots of our favourite foods should be eaten as treats. Later in the morning we made healthy face sandwiches which showed how much fun healthy food can be. They were delicious!
'Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God' Matthew 5: 9
During January we celebrated the day of prayer for world peace. We talked about how we could be peacemakers just like Jesus. We listened to scripture about how Jesus told his friends how they should live. We then offered our prayers to God and decided on one thing we could do in school to be a peacemaker.
We have been learning how to double and half numbers to 50. Have a look at our photographs below to see how hard we have been working.
