Place2Be

Newspaper article on Place 2 Be

Place2Be is a national charity providing emotional support to children in schools. We've grown from 5 schools in London to over 200 schools nationwide.

What we do

Place2Be provides emotional and therapeutic services in primary and secondary schools, building children's resilience through talking, creative work and play. We currently reach 75,000 children, helping them to cope with wide-ranging and often complex social issues including bullying, bereavement, domestic violence, family breakdown, neglect and trauma.

Impact & evidence

Children who have Place2Be's one-to-one counselling show significant improvement in their emotional wellbeing and peer relationships, with fewer behavioural difficulties. Teachers and parents report that improvements in these areas have a positive impact on children's classroom learning.

Children who come to Place2Be

We work in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. Children who use Place2Be's services are more likely to be from disadvantaged backgrounds, and to have special educational needs and pre-existing emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Place2Be at Holy Family Catholic Primary School

Place2Be counsellors are based in school each Wednesday and Thursday and they are led by our P2B Project Manager Karen.

1:1 Support

Counsellors offer 1:1 support to children who have been identified as needing theraputic support. Karen also works closely with the parents/carers before and during the support to make sure that the children are getting a full range of support from all those around them.

We have a dedicated therapy room where children can be free to express themselves.

Place2Talk

Karen runs sessions each lunch time where children can ‘self refer’ for some support with friendship issues or to chat about things that are worrying them. We have 2 post boxes in school where the children can post their forms to make an appointment.

Parent Counsellor

We have a Parent Counsellor who can also work 1:1 with any parent/carer to offer support to them which will then positively impact on life at home for the whole family.
